A Quest for Independence – Summer Camp Program in Exeter, RI

OSCIL’s Summer Transition Program is a one-week, residential program that provides teens and young adults with disabilities, ages sixteen through twenty-three, an opportunity to develop employment and independent living skills in a supportive environment.

There is no cost to students or their families. Lodging, food, activities, transportation, interpreters for the deaf, and personal care attendants for students with physical disabilities will be provided.

Funding authorization for this program may be obtained from your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor from the Office of Rehabilitation Services or Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for this program applicants must:

  • have a disability
  • be between 16 and 23 years old
  • be self-directing and able to make their own choices
  • be a Rhode Island resident

Applications must be received by July 1, 2022.

Children’s Sensory Story Time Support Group: Who we are, What we do and How you can participate
Join members of the Rhode Island Children’s Sensory Story Time Support Group to learn about the group’s development and the support it provides librarians working to implement inclusive services for patrons at their library. During the presentation, committee members will discuss the purpose of the support group and describe the group’s meeting process. Attendees will leave the meeting with information and resources that explain how to get involved and make a difference in their library through programming, outreach, and partnerships that will allow them to build a more inclusive community.
