Narragansett Council’s Scouting for All Abilities (SFAA) team is committed to fostering an inclusive culture that understands and appreciates all abilities, enriching the Scouting experience for everyone. To support our volunteers with tools and resources to better connect with their Scouts, we are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Autism Project and CHADD in hosting 3 courses for this year’s University of Scouting:

• Serving Scouts with Special Needs – Autism

• Serving Scouts with Special Needs – ADHD

• Serving Scouts with Special Needs – Advancement

This year, volunteers attending all 3 sessions will receive a SFAA pewter lapel pin signifying their commitment to deliver a wicked awesome Scouting program to members of all abilities.

Peer-to-Peer Support Group at RIPIN

Group Respite Care Program at URI (University of Rhode Island)

The first Sunday of every month the URI nursing students and Physical Therapy students come together to volunteer and they watch special needs kids to give caregivers a break for four hours. The program is overseen by the head of nursing and the head of PT at URI, they are in great hands.

Sensory Friendly Movies at the Showcase Cinema in Warwick, RI

Join us the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.

Tickets are available only at the box office.

At our Sensory Sensitive Screenings, we make adjustments that create a comfortable environment for guests who are living with autism or other sensory sensitivities to see the latest releases. Going to the movies is a magical experience and one that should be enjoyed by all. 

Screenings take place on the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at select locations and tickets are available only at the box office. Screening adjustments include: reduced volume, dimmed lights, no trailers, only 2D, freedom to move around/express emotions, and freedom to bring comfort items (e.g., fidgets, blankets) to better enjoy the movie.
